In-depth preview for the Weekly Monster GW27

Preview for the Weekly Monster on Fanteam

starting February 22nd

On Saturday at 16:00 the big Weekly Monster starts again at Fanteam.com with buy-ins of 2€, 20€ and 200€, so there is something for everyone.

By far the biggest favourite, who will surely adorn most teams at Fanteam.com with his players, is FC Liverpool.

They only have 1.16 odds at Pinnacle to win against West Ham in the last game of this Weekly Monster.

I’ll leave Liverpool aside in this little preview of the Weekly Monster, because on the one hand they don’t have a really bad pick in such a game anyway and on the other hand you have to see how Klopp might rotate here after the difficult match away at Madrid and there you will have a certain risk with Mane, Salah and Firmino, despite the safety net, with expensive prizes from 13.2M to 14.5M.

But now let’s check the matches and teams, which I would like to take a closer look at in this preview, have fun:

Wolves – Norwich

The match takes place on Sunday at 3pm. The Wolves had EL on Thursday, but on the one hand the game was at home, on the other hand they won with half power easily 4:0 against Espanyol.

Wolverhampton is currently 8th in the league, but only 5 points behind 4th place and the Champions League. Norwich, on the other hand, will have a hard time avoiding relegation as the last place of the league, now already 7 points behind the non-relegation place.

Norwich’s away performance is especially interesting for this game.

They have only scored 6(!!) goals in 13 games so far, not even in every second game away. All other teams in the league have 2-digit goal scores in away matches.

The Wolves have only conceded 17 goals in 13 games at home, but they’ve had almost all good opponents at home, which is a big part of the goals they’ve conceded.

Liverpool, City and Tottenham have each scored twice against the Wolves and Chelsea 5 times at the start of the season. This corresponds to 11 of the 17 goals conceded.

For the match against Norwich, it is expected that C. Coady (8.8M), W. Boly (7.8M) and R. Saiss (8.0M) will play the three central defenders in the variable 5-2-3 and in attack rather 3-4-3, respectively, and on the defensive outer lanes M. Doherty (9.3M) and J. Castro (8.2M)

I would like to emphasize the most here, right defender Matt Doherty, who has already scored 5 goals and 2 assists in this season’s compulsory matches.

His counterpart as left defender, Jonny Otto Castro has scored 1 goal and 2 assists so far.

Central defender Saiss 3 goals and Willy Boly still 1 goal and 1 assist each.

Especially Castro and Doherty are always looking for R. Jimenez (12.0M), who has already scored 20 goals and 10 assists this season.

One of the most successful symbioses in the league this season is A. Traore (11.6M) with Jimenez. Traore has already assisted several times for Jimenez in compulsory games and also vice versa.

Therefore my 3 favorite Wolverhampton combinations are for Fanteam:

Doherty + Jimenez

Castro + Jimenez

Traore + Jimenez

Manchester United – Watford

For the bookmakers, the Wolves and ManU are the biggest favourites after Liverpool to have a clean sheet on this matchday.

Of course there are reasons for that. Only Liverpool have conceded fewer goals at home than ManU.

Watford away with 11 goals scored also the 3rd least after Norwich and West Ham.

Against Watford, ManU will probably play as usual with a four-man backfield and it is most likely that H. Maguire (8.8M) and E. Bailly (7.2M) will form the central defence and A. Wan-Bissaka (8.4M) with L. Shaw (8.2M) will provide the outer defenders.

Maguire was the most successful ManU defensive player of this season so far with 2 goals and 2 assists from this potential four-man backfield, but also the two full-backs have already provided 2 assists.

Winter new access B. Fernandes (11.0M) is one of the best scorers in Europe, for Sporting he scored 13 goals and 10 assists in the preliminary round in League and EL.

Also for ManU he prepared in the 2nd game at Chelsea already as a new corner specialist a header goal from Maguire.

Then of course you have to mention A. Martial (11.5M). If Ighalo is sitting on the bench again, Martial will be the striker again due to lack of forwards and is listed as midfielder at Fanteam.

He seems to get on well with Wan-Bissaka, who assisted the 1-0 win against Chelsea for Martial.

So my 2 favorite ManU combinations for the Weekly Monster are this time:

Fernandes + Maguire

Wan-Bissaka + Martial

Southampton – Aston Villa

In the third match of my preview, I’ll focus on Southampton, who play Aston Villa at home.

Here I am particularly interested in the offensive of Southampton. Aston Villa is the biggest shooting gallery in the league after Newcastle away, with 26 goals conceded in 13 games. In total they have the most goals conceded in the league with 50 goals total.

Southampton may not be in over form either, but they have scored in 18 of their last 20 competitive matches, with the only exception of a match away at Liverpool and one other match.

In the offensive of Southampton all focus is on D. Ings (11.8M), rarely everything is that concentrated on one player when scoring goals. This season he has scored 18 goals and 2 assists so far, the next two have scored 4 goals and then it goes on with 2 goals.

Then following as topscorer is J. Ward-Prowse (11.5M), with 4 goals and 4 assists.

In the defense J. Stephens (7.9M) stands out with 2 goals and 3 assists.

In general these 3 players form a surprisingly often goal combination for Southampton.

Ward-Prowse is also Southampton’s specialist for all penalties, free kicks and corners.

Therefore, the 3 are also in my favorite combination for the home game against Aston Villa.

Ward-Prowse + Ings

Stephens + Ings

Sheffield United – Brighton

As an inexpensive replenisher Brighton could make sense, with defensive players costing all under 5.0M and the opponent Sheffield United have only scored 28 goals in 26 games this season.

In the top half of the table, this is by far the lowest of all teams.

At home they have only scored 15 goals in 13 games so far, too.

Brighton’s central defender L. Dunk (4.9M) has already scored 2 goals and 3 assists this season, his likely partner in central defence for this match, A. Webster (4.4M), has also scored 3 goals.

Since the game starts on Saturday at 4pm, you can check the starting formations on Fanteam.com in time for the tournament.

Conclusion:

This is a pretty interesting matchday, because besides the biggest names Liverpool and Manchester City, there are some exciting home teams that could potentially score well on the defensive or offensive side.

Based on my preview here, I will now introduce you to 2 possible core teams and i hope you enjoyed the article.
