CS:GO Dreamhack Masters 20.05. on FanTeam Preview

The Dreamhack had an exciting first day, as 2 of 3 underdogs actually managed to upset their enemy. Many, including me, wouldn’t have thought this was possible in any world, especially at the Chaos – Liquid match.

Nonetheless we have to focus on today’s match and I will focus on players of the underdog teams a bit more today.

As always at the Dreamhack there are 3 matches in the schedule today. 2 EU matches, fighting off for the top places in Group A, and 1 NA match where the two other teams of NAs group are starting into the tournament.

Yesterday I wrote about CS:GO Fantasy more generally. From today on I will focus on my favorite player picks as you all should be familiar with CSGO Fantasy. If not go back to yesterday’s article and have a read.

The buying for today’s tournament is 10,00€ and there is a guaranteed prize pool of 10,000€, with nearly 1,500€ for the first place alone. Next two it there is also a 1€ tournament today.

As the CS:GO tournaments will be played in Pursuit Fashion, which means that cheap players receive more additional points,it would be wise not to disregard cheap players as some of them might give you the edge over other players due to their bonus points.

To make sure you can take advantage of this we focus on the best value plays in these articles.

Today’s matchups are the following:

G2 vs Heroic

To start the day the international mix of G2 faces of against the newly formed Danes. G2 have been susceptible for upsets in the close past, while Heroic has a lot of upcoming talents in their lines so an upset is definitely possible. Still, considering the fact that Heroic doesn’t have much experience G2 are the favorites here.

Looking at the players G2 has many opportunities as always and it is hard to choose who is the best option. As a captain play I definitely like huNter the most. He has been finding his form again the last couple of matches and in his top form he is a top 5 player. The ceiling of him is very high and multi kills will come to his name almost guaranteed. Looking at 1 or 2 partner for a G2 stack I pick KennyS and Amanek.

In order for KennyS to perform he needs confidence. That’s what he lacked the last 1-2 weeks but that’s also what he found in the last map yesterday. Assuming he can manage to carry that over to today he could be an insane points deliverer with not too much ownage percentage as players who have just been watching the last days might be undervaluing him.

Amanek on the other side is a player where the prize is also a factor. Getting a G2 player for 9,6 million is always nice, considering anyone can top frag in the end. Surely he doesn’t have the highest ceiling, so I don’t like him as a captain play, but I don’t think you need that of G2 with huNter and KennyS in your hands. He will give you bonus points automatically, will have low ownership and can definitely outfrag 2 to 3 members of his team over the course of 2 or 3 maps.

Looking at Heroic players most would say stavn and B0RuP are the best picks today, as they have performed the best yesterday and their prices haven’t updated yet. Surely they aren’t bad and I like them as well, especially in a Heroic stack. But actually niko has been their best performing player by far since the team exists. He averages 0,71 kills per round which surely isn’t bad if you consider how many games they have lost in that period and how balanced the team in theory is. Playing in our favor niko has performed the worst yesterday so I assume he will be very low owned, which we can take advantage of.

North vs Astralis

A danish derby that has some twists which could change things around quite a lot. Both teams just recently have had a lineup change to their name so some would argue there are equal circumstances. Everyone that is into CS GO a bit more knows that Astralis will suffer a lot more. Gla1ve, potentially the best in game leader of all time has way more impact to a game than Kjaerbye could ever have (not meant to be disrespectful). You could see how lost Astralis looked on their T sites yesterday without him. Surely, they can turn around any game with an insane CT performance, but its not guaranteed ant that’s what makes this matchup so interesting.

Device, obviously the most boring one but still the best, is the one that profits of the fact that Astralis has to win more CT rounds as this is clearly his better side as you saw yesterday. He had a Kill/Death ratio of 13/25 on the T side and an insane 35/9 ratio on the CT side. Although this was an extreme case, you can expect similar going forward.

One of the most solid players of all time is xyp9x, and he can surely fill up your team today as well.

Next to him I was trying to figure out who is influenced positive or negative by the lineup change and I came to the conclusion that it has to be Dupreeh on the long run who profits the most, especially against weaker teams like Heroic.

On the other side it should be Magisk who suffers the most so I would avoid him for the next days.

Due to the fact that Magisk is in game leading now he has to focus more on the calling, especially as the T sides were so bad yesterday. As the aggressive part of Magisk won’t appear this often, it leaves room for Dupreeh, the other aggressive player.

Looking at North, aizy is the most obvious one but also the best one. He has been finding his form which has been missing for 2 years and every CSGO fan loves to see it. I don’t need to say any more than to look at his stats. Still, that is what everyone will do so remember he will have a high owner percentage as well. Next to the obvious pick I think gade is a pick that might go under the radar. Looking at yesterdays game, you could clearly see that he had more freedom in the way he played which definitely worked to his advantage. It is quite obvious, that this is due to the missing of Kjaerbye. Potentially he can take over that second star role, which would be insane  at a price of 8,3 million.

Furia vs MIBR

The last match of the day is one of the greatest CS GO has to deliver. The brazilian derby. Nonetheless how big the skill gap in whatever direction was, it was a close and exciting game for sure.

It is important to note that meyern has been replaced by trk on the MIBR side just yesterday.

It is not known how long MIBR itself has been knowing this and how long they have practised with their new pick up, but it doesn’t really matter if it was a week or a day, the structure cant be there yet.

Taking into consideration that Furia has just reached their highest level ever at the Road to Rio and all 3 matchups this year between both teams have been ending in the favor of Furia, I fear an easy one for Furia here.

If you still want to gamble on a MIBR team I would go for kNg, who always performs quite well against Furia and fill him up with one of their two stars FalleN or fer.

On the Furia side kscerato is one of my favorite captain picks today. His numbers at the Road to Rio speak for itself, as he managed to average 0,78 kills per round throughout the tournament. To support him with a Furia player I would pick HEN1. The AWPer always has a good game against MIBR. At 10,5 million he will be one of the best today, I assume.

I you want to predict that kscerato wont top fragg today you can try to go with the lower owned option yuurih. I don’t think there was a game where none of both riflers wasn’t going insane, so you can use that to our advantage.

Good luck!
