German Midweek Monster on Fanteam

written by D. Horvat, May 26

The secound gameweek of Bundesliga on Fanteam has just ended and yet here we are again, back and ready for the upcoming German Midweek Monster.

The Bundesliga does not rest. After some exciting games this weekend, we head right into the next ones with a midweek gameday 28. And what a stunner we have here: Borussia Dortmund welcomes german ‘Rekordmeister’ Bayern Munich at Westfalenstadion on tuesday.

This time though, the tournament format changes a bit: We split gameweek 28 in two pieces, playing a 25k tournament on the tuesday slate and another 25k on the wednesday slate. Additionally, it is played out as pursuit so make sure you are aware of that.

But before we head deeper into the fixtures and format, let´s take a look back at what has happened in the 50k German Monster this weekend.

Gameweek 27 Review

Once again, the last game between Cologne and Dusseldorf turned many things upside down. Modestes late goal and Jhon Cordobas stoppage time equalizer did not only stun the Dusseldorf players, it also took away a decent amount of points from the squads which were hoping for a clean sheet.

Let us take a look at the final Top 20:

With somehow unreal 111.50 points user ‘Vozi15’ bulldozed the entire field in victory and walked away with a sweet 7.500€ paycheck.

His winning squad looked like this and was successful nearly all over the pitch:

It had a clean sheeting and scoring Bremen stack, combined with a scoring and assisting Hoffenheim stack at the back. In midfield, Dusseldorfs Skrzybski had 2 assists while Sabitzer had a goal and an assist. Up front, the squad combined a total of 5 goals and 2 assists divided between Karaman, Werner and Poulsen. Amazing choices and nothing more to say than a big congratulations ‘Vozi15’, those were well deserved 7.500€.

Nevertheless, there were more decent squads who had a top place finish, so let us take a look at some more ranks and prizes.

2nd Karl.R 4.000€

3rd quirrel77 2.500€

4th smith1313 1.700€

5th zocker1806 1.400€

In germany we would say „Glückwunsch, gut gemacht!“ and so do I.

Congratulations to all of our winners.

Gameweek 28 Preview

In round 28 of Bundesliga the tournaments are split in two. There is a tuesday tournament with a 4 game slate and a wednesday tournament with a 5 game slate. It is also played out in pursuit format so make sure you take that into consideration while building your squad.

If you need more help on pursuit, here is everything you need to know.

Now let´s head back to the fixtures. As usual, we kick things off with bookie odds and the resulting winning, clean sheeting and player scoring probabilities.

Dortmund vs Bayern W: 29% / 54% CS: 17% / 26% G: Lewandowski (BAY) 63%

Leverkusen vs Wolfsburg W: 57% / 23% CS: 33% / 18% G: Havertz (LEV) 50%

Frankfurt vs Freiburg W: 50% / 29% CS: 31% / 21% G: A.Silva (FRA) 39%

Bremen vs Gladbach W: 22% / 58% CS: 18% / 33% G: Plea (GLA) 40%

Leipzig vs Hertha W: 74% / 13% CS: 44% / 13% G: Werner(LEI) 65%

U.Berlin vs Mainz W: 44% / 32% CS: 32% / 26% G: Andersson (UBE) 44%

Augsburg vs Paderborn W: 51% / 27% CS: 36% / 22% G: Niederlechner (AUG) 42%

Dusseldorf vs Schalke  W: 38% / 38% CS: 30% / 30% G: Hennings (DUS) 36%

Hoffenheim vs Cologne W: 41% / 37% CS: 22% / 22% G: Cordoba (COL) 37%

The gameday starts at 6.30 CET with the german ‘Klassiker’ rivalry between Dortmund and Bayern.  If Bayern manages to win this game, it could already be a preliminary decision in the Bundesliga championship.

In round 27 and 28 without the fans there were only 3 home wins in 18 played matches. It can be coincidence but I do not think the Bundesliga has ever seen such numbers.

The three thoughts

  1. Especially for the tuesday gameslate you should take an intense look at the bookies clean sheet odds. 33% is the highest probability, which means they clean sheet in this exact matchup just 1/3 of the time. Simple said: Expect many goals to come and stay away from most defender lines. On the other hand, if you find the one, that really manages to not concede a goal, you will have a huge advantage over the field.
  • The Bundesliga is a very hard to predict league. There are surprising results nearly every gameday. I don´t think this will happen in the Bremen vs Gladbach game tonight. Bremen is still under pressure and a big underdog. They lack in scoring and defending, having conceded the 2nd most until now, while Gladbach is very dangerous up front. With Breel Embolo and Tobias Strobl out, Gladbach has to rotate their lineup. Lars Stindl (11.3m) could be a potential starter and scorer which is widely overseen by the field. In addition, the same applies for midfielder Laszlo Benes (10.3m) who will take all the freekicks and corners. Keep that in mind!
  • The Hoffenheim side is really struggling this season. They have not won a single game of their last 8 matches (3D, 4L) with an 8:20 goal record. Even at home no away side needs big fear: They already lost 8 of their 14 games at home, only last placed Paderborn lost more. The bookies come along with a 41% chance of winning here ? As of now and taking their recent performances into consideration, I do not think so. They look planless and stunned and are still missing striker Andreij Kramaric. Depending on their final prices, a cologne stack could perform well here.

You can find your entrance to the German Midweek Monster right here. There are 3 different buy in options. Good luck and have fun!
