With a new week there comes a new tournament in CS:GO. Though, this week is special as it’s not one but two. At least for some days. The Blast Premier Showdown will find a winner this week while some teams are trying to qualify for the ESL Pro League. I personally really like the mix of teams and I am really looking forward to the tournament starting at 16:30 CET.
The buying for today’s tournament is 10,00€ and there is a guaranteed prize pool of 10,000€, with 2.000€ for the first place alone. Next to it there is also a 1€ tournament and a 200€ tournament for the highrollers today.
As the CS:GO tournaments will be played in Pursuit Fashion, which means that cheap players receive more additional points,it would be wise not to disregard cheap players as some of them might give you the edge over other players due to their bonus points.
To make sure you can take advantage of this we focus on the best value plays in these articles.
Today’s matchups are the following:
Looking at the players these are my top picks for today. In the following I will explain why I like them the most.
Vitality vs G2
The French derby starts the day today and it couldn’t be closer odds wise. However G2 should be the favorite in my opinion. Even though they had to take a heartbreaking loss in yesterday’s Dreamhack Final, as they lost 2:3 after being up 2:0, I still think they are the better team overall.
Looking at the maps I am having a hard time finding a map where Vitality could beat G2 for sure. Vertigo and Dust2 seem to be the only options, but these were map picks from G2 as well in the recent past. In my opinion everything is leaning in G2s favor.
The ZywOo factor would be the only thing allowing Vitality to have a chance. Following this he is the only player I like from Vitality, as a captain of course.
On the G2 site I like nexa and Jackz the most. Everyone can step up on the G2 side, but both have had the best form in recent times next to huNter.
Spirit vs BIG
The second game is probably clear in everyone’s minds as BIG just comes from a great win of the whole Dreamhack Masters. However, even as a BIG fan I think there is more value in Spirit due to several points. First of all many have forgotten that Spirit also looked good during their Dreamhack run.
Moreover BIG surely celebrated yesterday, so that could be a factor pointing in the direction of Spirit.
Furthermore BIG has looked worse against weaker teams as against top teams, especially in the last months. While they have won everything but one game against G2 in the Dreamhack Masters, they lost against Sprout and Gambit Youngsters and just survived against Virtus Pro in lower competitions. I still think BIG wins here in the end, but the Value is definitely in Spirit.
Taking the recent performances and prices into account, both sdy and magixx each being priced at 9,1 and 9 million are great value.
On the BIG side I like TabseN, XANTARES and k1to the most. All for the exact same reason, as they have better games against weaker opponents in general.
Godsent vs ForZe
Coming in as the third game of the contest are two teams some of you might not be familiar with yet. While Godsent is an European mix team which has not been able to break into the tier 1 scene yet, ForZe is a CIS team that could be classified slightly under Spirit.
The match is balanced odds wise, as both teams seem to be evenly strong. THough, I think predicting the win of this match could be a deciding factor, as I think one of the teams will run away with a 2:0 victory.
Looking at the recent results I actually favor ForZe in this match and I like their players as well as they should be quite low owned due to not many people knowing them. I personally will go with xsepower and FL1T as they have the highest ceiling and the whole team will be low owned anyway.
On the Godsent side it is hard to call, as no one beside himself has been stepping up since Farlig replaced Maikelele. Anybody but krystal has the potential to step up, so I will chose Maden the most as he is the cheapest and he won’t be owned by many.
FaZe vs ENCE
The last Blast match of the day will be FaZe against the Finns. The odds are even but I think I have a valid point why FaZe should be winning this. FaZe has actually been looking quite strong since adding Bymas to their lineup, expect against BIG. BIG is a tactical based team though, which ENCE isn’t by any means. ENCE comes over their firepower, where you can just wish them luck to win with this against FaZe.
I will highly favor the FaZe players in this match. Bymas has been looking hit or miss in his first games, so taking a risk at 10,1 million can definitely make sense. Broky the AWPer is also priced at 10,1 million and comparing them to all the other players of the tournament I really like them. Moreover you cant ignore NiKo as a captaincy option if you predict FaZe to win.
If you want to go for ENCE players I will just advice you the obvious picks Allu and Jamppi, as they would be the key for ENCE to win.
HAVU vs North
This match is real special as it’s a matter of who is worse. HAVU is far away from entering the Tier 1 scene but North has been dropping their skill level so hard that they aren’t even the favorites even more. This match could go in everyone’s favor, but I am sure it will be a mess. I don’t have a strong opinion here so I wont give a prediction.
What I can say is, that aizy should be twice as skilled as everyone else in the server here so he is definitely a nice gamble. MSL should be the best value for money if you are looking at the recent stats.
The HAVU players will probably be low owned and as they are the favorite odds wise here, they could be a good gamble. I don’t know the players so I can just look based of the stats which leads me to picking doto and sLowi.
Heroic vs Virtus Pro
The last match of the day is a really interesting one in my opinion. Everything Heroic has been showing since creating their roster has been really good, while everything that Virtus Pro has been showing since making their roster change has been bad.
Though, you could definitely argue that the ceiling of Virtus Pro should be higher skill wise. Nonetheless it would be a huge gamble to predict them stepping up their game in this match, so I will stick with Heroic for the most time.
If you want to go for Virtus Pro definitely pick YEKINDAR and captain him and support him with either Jame or qikert.
On the Heroic side there are multiple varieties as they are pretty balanced skill wise. Though, stavn has impressed me a lot so I wouldn’t leave him out. While niko hasn’t been putting up the numbers you would expect from him, I see a lot of good things from TeSeS and I really think he could be a great value pick today.
