Fanteam Premier League 1M: Gameweek 4 review

Read this Premier League 1M: Gameweek 4 Review and benefit since the €1,000,000 Season Game Late Registration is open!

The Fanteam Premier League 1M Season game is underway, with four Gameweeks already in the books. In this Gameweek 4 review article, we will talk about what we learned from watching the matches, which teams and players stood out, and which of them were disappointing.

Premier League 1M: Gameweek 4 review in a glance

This gameweek was pretty insane. With 41 goals across 10 matches, two games with 7 or more goals each, and 16 out of the 20 teams scoring.

The weekend started off with Chelsea getting an easy win against Crystal Palace with a 4-0 score. Everton got their 4th win over Brighton with 4-2. In the evening, Manchester City was playing at Leeds. We watched an amazing match with many chances for goals and the Citizens didn’t find a way to win, ending the match with a draw (1-1 score).  Newcastle won in the last match of the day with a 3-1 score against Burnley.

Sunday was nothing but surprising once again. In the first games of the day, Leicester was defeated by West Ham in their home with a 0-3 score, and Southampton managed to overcome West Brom with a 2-0 score. Later, Arsenal found the home win against Sheffield United with a 2-1 score. Wolves also got the home win against Fulham in a close match.

The last two matches of the weekend were shocking, though! Manchester United hosted the Spurs, and after a red card on the Red Devils, the Spurs were dominating and they got a huge win with 1-6! Finally, Aston Villa got a historic win against Liverpool with an astonishing 7-2!!! That win might be the biggest surprise of the whole season.

Late Registration: The value of coming in now

Managers who register now will not have a disadvantage. In contrast, we see our top managers putting up most of their teams in Late Registration. Why is that?

First of all, starting with 163 points will get you 201 points away from the 1st place and only 82 points away from the paid positions (5659th). These differences are considerable though, but in this crazy season you can get in a firing range by predicting just a few surprises like the ones we’ve seen so far.

The season is long and the information we got from the games is significant.

Who impressed us the most in Gameweek 4

Firstly, Aston Villa lived a historic weekend. They shocked everyone with a huge win against the champion Liverpool with a 7-2 score!

Aston Villa

They got the 3rd win in three matches and now they hold the second place in the league. Aston Villa led after a big mistake by Liverpool’s goalkeeper. Ollie Watkins (6.0M – FOR) scored a hat-trick in the first half! In the second half, he could score more goals but he managed to give an assist. He got 19 Fantasy Points and among Harry Kane’s appearance in GW2, they have the most fantasy points by a forward.

The star of the team, Jack Grealish (6.5M – MID), also had an incredible match. He gave 3 assists and scored 2 goals in a single match against the champions! He got 23 fantasy points and now has the second-best fantasy score in the whole season {1st is Heung-Min Son’s (10.1M – MID) 24 fantasy points in the GW2}.

Finally, the midfielder John McGinn (5.5M – MID) put up some fantasy numbers. He scored a goal and he gave an assist.

Spurs

Tottenham also made a historic win by defeating Manchester United in the Old Trafford with 1-6! After a mistake in the first minute of the match, Spurs committed a penalty and Bruno Fernades (11.0M – MID) opened the score. But they took the lead with 2 goals in the next 5 minutes! Then, a red card on Anthony Martial (10.4M – FOR) made the Spurs completely dominant in the field. They ended the first half with 1-4 and with 2 more goals in the second half they took the big win. Heung-Min Son (10.1M – MID) surprised everyone by overcoming his injury. Most of the owners of the Spurs’ star sold him and they were disappointed after the big fantasy score he made. He scored 2 goals and he also gave an assist, gathering 16 fantasy points. Harry Kane (11.1M – FOR) was impressive once again. He scored 2 goals and he gave an assist. Now he has 6 assists in 4 matches and 3 goals.

West Ham

After a big win last weekend against Wolves, West Ham won again with a big lead against Leicester. The hammers found a way of bringing up some important wins for them against some tough opponents. Jarrod Bowen (6.6M – MID) scored a goal for the second match in a row and Pablo Fornals (5.6M – MID) scored and gave an assist. Also, left-back Aaron Cresswell (5.0M – DEF) contributed two assists and he was among the best defenders of GW4. West Ham has one of the toughest first matches program and the first 7 games are really hard. They managed to find 2 wins over tough opponents and now the next matches are against Spurs, Manchester City, and Liverpool.

Everton

Four wins in four matches for Everton. Everton is on top of the leaderboard with 12 points. This week they defeated Brighton with a 4-2 score. Dominic Calvert-Lewin (8.2M – FOR) scored once again and James Rodriguez (7.1M – Everton) put up a show where he scored two goals and he gave an assist.

Chelsea

The Londoners had a pretty solid match and managed to defeat Crystal Palace with 4-0. They were better at defense than GW3 and managed to get their first clean sheet. Edouard Mendy (5.0M – GK) as goalkeeper and Ben Chilwell (5.5M – DEF) as left-back in their debut match helped their team a lot. Ben Chilwell (5.5M – DEF) was especially impressive. He scored the first goal of the match and he also gave a beautiful assist to Kurt Zouma’s (5.0M – DEF) header. Finally, the master of penalty kicks, Jorginho (5.1M – MID, scored 2 goals with penalty kicks.

Callum Wilson

The striker of Newcastle had a great match. He contributed to all 3 goals of his team with 2 goals and 1 assist. So far he scored 4 goals in 4 matches and he played 90’ minutes in 3 of the 4 matches of the season. He is making himself a great option for a spot in the forward line for the fantasy managers.

Leeds

The newcomer team is for the 4th time in 4 game weeks in the most impressive list. Leeds were really good against Manchester City and managed to get a 1-1 draw. Even though everyone expected many goals and some high fantasy scores from the players in this match-up, no one stood out. The match was intense with many chances for scoring and Leeds missed a huge opportunity in the final minutes of the match to take the lead.

Top disappointments of Gameweek 4

Liverpool

The weekend didn’t start well for them after announcing that their star player Sadio Mane (12.0M – MID) was affected by COVID-19. What a terrible night for the champions! Liverpool suffered a jaw-dropping 7-2 loss from Aston Villa. Liverpool’s defence was all over the place. Adrian (5.0M – GK) played his first match of the season after the injury of B. Alisson (6.0M – GK) and he was horrible. He made a childish mistake in just 3 minutes into the match and his team conceded the first goal. Liverpool had the worst first half they could and they were losing 4-1. The second half wasn’t better and the owners of Liverpool’s defenders suffered a pretty big hit. The popular defenders Alexander-Arnold (7.5M – DEF) and Robertson (7.0M – DEF) got -2 fantasy points and van Dijk (6.0M – DEF) got -3 fantasy points.

Manchester United

The virus spread beyond Liverpool, though, as Manchester United suffered a big loss too. They showed once again the weakness in their defence and after a terrible match, they lost 1-6 from Tottenham. Even though they managed to take the lead in the match, in just 5 minutes they threw everything away. Antony Martial (10.4M – FOR) received a red card leaving his team with 10 players and losing with 2-1 score. The rest of the match was just torture for the Red Devils, who conceded 6 goals quite easily, with the Spurs slowing down in the final minutes to stop the torture.

Leicester

After a huge win against Manchester City last weekend, Leicester lost for the first time this season. West Ham put an end to their perfect start of three wins. Leicester was slow in defence and the perfect long passes from Aaron Cresswell (5.0M – DEF) unlocked their defence. The next match is pretty interesting, as they are playing against the undefeated Aston Villa.

Manchester City

They didn’t have what it takes to overcome the impressive Leeds. Manchester City’s offence without an original striker isn’t strong enough. De Bruyne (12.4M – MID) wasn’t good for the second match in a row and Sterling (11.0M – MID), even though he scored, missed some good chances for a second goal. At least the defence was better and Ruben Dias (5.0M – DEF) had a good first match with the Citizens.

Now we have seen all the teams, the players, and how they play. You can take the popular players or you can take the players you believe will thrive in the next games.
