Gameweek 28 rolls on with 4 EPL games on Thursday and we at Fanteam have a Main Event contest for us to dig our teeth into.

Thursday’s main event contest will feature two buy-ins €2 and €15. The difference in the contests is of course the prize pool at stake. In the low entry the prize pool sits at €2,000. A massive €10,000 is up for grabs in the high entry, with €3,500 going to first place.

If this is your first time playing one of our main-event contests then let me break it down for you. The main event contest will be played under the universal 6 format and If you have played universal 6 on FanTeam before, the format will appear very familiar.  If you have not then the concept is simple. In Universal-6, you have 6 spots to fill in your lineup. You can select any player, from any position, from any team. You have a budget of 66M to work with, which may seem a lot when you review the players’ prices.

However, there is a catch . Your Captain will score 1.5x points, but will cost 1.5x his price tag. The same applies to your Vice-Captain, only this is 1.2x points multiplier with a 1.2x price increase. This means that unfortunately, you can’t fit in all of the top priced assets. There has to be some balance throughout your team.

No bench required in this contest, folks. Instead, you have the innovative safety net feature to fall back on! This means if you have a player who does not start, your player will be replaced at the beginning of the match. This is dependent on a player being available from the same team, at the same price or less. The closest price to your player value will be automatically selected.

Standard scoring applies to this contest.

With the rules covered, let’s take a look at the fixtures shall we?

The way to get different in this slate would be to target Norwich assets who are sure to be low owned! With that said, Norwich look to have given up and come up against a Chelsea team in full confidence after a 4-0 hammering of Burnley in the second half last week.

Chelsea are without the attacking prowess of Reece James, who is destined for another spell on the sidelines. Antonio Rudiger (11.3M) is my favorite Chelsea asset for this game, in a game I think they should keep a clean sheet in. Which would be the 4th on the bounce for Chelsea in the premier league. Chelsea’s attacking returns have been hard to predict of late, in terms of where they come from. The safe bet here is their defense.

Two teams in very good form. Newcastle have dragged themselves away from the relegation zone in recent weeks and have been keeping clean sheets in the process. Southampton who got a reality check at the weekend but were in excellent shape before that getting results against City and United.

I like this game tonight and will be getting high exposure to both sides with Ryan Fraser (7.6M) Joe Wilock (6.9M) and Alan Saint-Maximin (8.1M) being my favorite players on the Newcastle side. From Southampton I will be targeting set-piece specialist James Ward-Prowse (10.9M) and Armando Broja (10.2M) I think we will get goals in this game so will be avoiding any defensive assets.

A get right game for the Wolves stout defense? I think so as they battle a Watford team who look destined to be playing Championship football next season. Wolves have conceded just 23 goals all season and I doubt they concede number 24 tonight against a Watford team without playmaker Ismaila Sarr.

If I was to play a goalkeeper tonight it would be Jose Sa (9.0M) who is the third highest fantasy goalkeeping scorer in the game. The whole back 4 of Wolves is in play tonight and they come at great prices, Romain Saiss (8.5M), Conor Coady (8.4M), Rayan Ait Nouri (8.3M) and Max Kilman (8.1M). Wolves attacking returns have been hard to predict of late, in terms of where they come from. The safe bet here is the defense!

Leeds unfortunately for them are coming up against a buzzsaw tonight in free scoring Aston Villa, who look great under Steven Gerrard. This is the one game that Leeds probably didn’t want right now as they fight the drop. With this in mind I will be targeting the Villa attacking assets.

My favorite player from this game is Brazilian playmaker Phillipe Coutinho (9.3M) who has a new lease of life back in the premier league, scoring 3 goals and with 3 assists since returning. I fancy Leeds to score tonight just not enough to get a result so will have some exposure to Raphina (9.9M) who has 9 goals this season. Others to consider are Ollie Watkins (9.7M), Jacob Ramsey (8.7M) and if you fancy a Villa clean sheet then Lucas Digne (7.0M) offers some salary relief.

As this contest allows multi entries, I will likely be entering different line ups. Here’s an example of one of my line ups I will be entering using some of the players mentioned.

I’ve left money on the table as you can see but I’m not worried about it. I absolutely love the Brazilian magician as captain tonight and fancy him to return with a goal or 2 against a poor Watford defence.

I hope this has given you food for thought and I look forward to seeing your names on the leaderboard.
