IT’S TIME, ladies and gentlemen! The UFC returns to PPV for UFC 273 and is headlined by Alexander Volkanovski taking on the Korean zombie Chan Sung Jung in a stacked card.

The UFC really is the ultimate fighting experience, where favorites can be knocked out at any moment. We have seen it time and time again with greats such as Michael Bisping, Anderson Silva and Conor McGregor all staring up at those lights and wondering what the hell just happened.

The UFC is everything it’s advertised to be – trash talking, bright lights, bright stars and violence with great technique mixed in. All making it the greatest combat sport in the world, in my opinion – and the perfect sport to play DFS in.

Why not enjoy all the spectacular moments tonight by entering a few DFS lineups and experiencing the thrills of your fighter getting a first round KO.

We have a €5 buy in and a prize pool of €1000 for this contest.

If you have played FanTeam UFC then you will be familiar with our universal 6 concept. For those of you who haven’t tho then it’s simple, simply pick 6 fighters within a £110M budget.

Scoring  remains the same and is again very simple. 1 point for a strike, 2 for a takedown, 5 for a reversal. A fighter that wins within the first round also gets 100 points compared to a fighter winning in round 5 who gets just 30 points.

This, however, might even itself out over the fight with the fighter winning in round 5 getting a ton of strikes and takedowns, so there’s many ways to approach this.

I don’t even hate 2 fighters from the same fight if it was to go all the way, as there’s potential for points-galore!

The highest priced fighters on tonight’s card are Alexander Volkanovski (20.5M), Petr Yan (20.1M) and Khamzat Chimaev (19.5M).

If you are playing a single entry or multi-entering, then you will almost certainly need to have exposure to these guys. It’s extremely difficult to play all of those guys in one lineup, so you will need to find a balance.

Here a few of my Core Plays for tonight’s UFC 273 slate on FanTeam:

Jairzinho Rozenstruik (16.9M)

Jairzinho Rozenstruik takes on Marcin Tybura in a heavyweight dust up. Rozenstruik was once the talk of the heavyweight division. A heavy striker in his own right but has only 2 wins in his last 5 fights. Still, he is one of the best strikers and power punchers in the division, so he has to be respected.

Tybura is an excellent grappler but unfortunately for him Rozenstruik has excellent takedown defense. The last time Tybura faced a power puncher he got rocked and hurt badly. In his last 7 losses Tybura has been knocked out 4 times and I think we see that here again as I can’t see him troubling Tybura too much.

Jairzinho Rozenstruik via knockout is the verdict.

Jared Vanderaa (16.5M)

Jared Vanderaa takes on Aleksei Oleinik in a heavyweight dust up.  Jared Vanderaa boasts massiv physical advantages in this fight. He is coming off a loss via split decision last time out but has youth on his side here being 15 years younger than Oleinik. Vanderaa is a good combination striker which will be key here especially with the reach advantage he will possess.

Aleksei Oleinik has a massive advantage in experience with this being his 77th professional career fight. A Brazilian jiu-jitsu artist who is very well rounded, however Oleinik is riding a 3 fight losing streak and for me age (44) has finally caught up with him.

Jared Vanderaa via knockout is the verdict.

Tecia Torres (16.1M)

Tecia Torres takes on Mackenzie Dern in a strawweight dust up. Tecia Torres is a heavy striker who lands blows at a very high percentage. She comes into this fight off the back of 3 victories and 1 via knockout. Torres has also shown some improvement in her ground game in recent fights and is rounding into an all round package.

Mackenzie Dern is an incredible grappler, but she lacks that upper strength to get as many takedowns as she would like. She comes into this fight on the back of a decision loss last time out and was lucky to get the victory via decision in the fight before that. I really worry about Dern’s skill set so I would find it hard picking her here.

Tecia Torres via decision is the verdict.

Although I will be entering multi entries in Saturday’s cash games, this is one of my lineups for UFC 273 on FanTeam.

As you can see, the lineup is built around my player selections above.

I hope this article has given you plenty of food for thought – especially for those of you that know very little about UFC, but are playing in Saturday’s Main Event contest.

UFC 273  cash contests  start at 23.00BST,  so be sure to enter your lineups early to avoid missing out.
