FANTEAM FANTASY GOLF PLAYER MATCHUPS – RBC HERITAGE

GOLF RBC HERITAGE PLAYER MATCHUPS PICKS

The PGA Tour heads on down to Harbour Town South Carolina for the RBC Heritage this week. An underrated stop on the tour, that includes a  stacked field including 5 of the top 10 golfers in the world.

WHAT IS PLAYER MATCHUPS?

Player matchups is an exciting FanTeam game that enables players to bet on between 3 and 10, designated 1 – vs – 1 fantasy matchups, with the potential to win up to 500X your stake.

Player matchups essentially act as a fantasy football accumulator, in which the payout increases the more matchups the user bets on. The great thing with FanTeam player matchups is that you are betting against the house rather than thousands of other players.

WHY DO I LIKE PLAYER MATCHUPS?

The reason I love player matchups aside from the obvious cash rewards is just the fact it’s a simple way to apply my fantasy knowledge without the need to build or manage a fantasy roster.

The simplicity of matchups means all I have to assess is how well I think certain players/teams will perform that week and just bet on the guys/teams I like, rather than managing transfers/rosters etc.

The great thing with FanTeam is that I can bet on  player matchups, along with playing daily fantasy and betting outrights all under one app.

RBC HERITAGE PLAYER MATCHUP PICKS

The RBC Heritage is a tree lined golf course with water hazards on half its holes. It’s predominantly a second shot golf course so I will be focusing heavily on strokes gained on approach with my selections this week.

CAMERON SMITH VS JUSTIN THOMAS

My first pick for player matchups is Justin Thomas.

Cameron Smith has been on fire as of late so this pick does not come without risk. I am going against him here because I think we will see somewhat of a Masters hangover. Smith was on a charge on Masters Sunday before he went at that dreaded pin on number 12 and his ball found the water.

After a slow start at Augusta National Justin Thomas played the weekend at 4 under par which earned him a tied 8th finish. Thomas ranks number 2 in my model this week and he is 3rd in this field in strokes gained on approach over the last 24 rounds.

With a potential hangover for Cameron Smith and Thomas gaining so many shots on the approach this is an easy pick for me.

RICKIE FOWLER VS CAMERON TRINGALE

My second pick for player matchups is Cameron Tringale.

Rickie Fowler might be fighting for his tour card sooner than later. A massive tumble down the rankings from a former major contender. What really concerns me is the strokes he is losing on the approach, normally a part of his game that he is really good at. He ranks 61st in strokes gained on approach in this field and recently at the Honda classic he lost 4.7 strokes on approach to the field.

Tringale has had a poor year so far by his standards and it might have something to do with the fact that he is bleeding shots off the tee. Luckily that’s not all that important here at the RBC Heritage. He ranks 18th within my model this week and is 26th in stroke gained on the approach over his last 24 rounds.

MITO PEREIRA VS KEVIN NA

My third pick for player matchups is Kevin Na.

Mito does come in fresh so that is with saying. Mito had a nice finish last time out at the Valero coming tied 13th, unfortunately though he is just too volatile with made cuts often being followed by missed cuts. The one that really concerns me is the missed cut at Pebble Beach earlier in the year, a good comp course for the RBC Heritage.

Na was very good at the Masters, in fact he led the field in approach across the 4 days. He can get it done around here with 4 top 10 finishes in 7 starts. Another good comp course for the Heritage is the Sony Open and Na has a win around there. He ranks 8th in my model this week so he is an easy selection over a volatile Mito.
