A massive 2 nights of champions league football starts tonight with Villarreal VS Liverpool.

Unai Emery’s side will have to pull off another miracle tonight if they are to progress after losing the first leg 2-0. An own goal and Sadio Mane have given the Reds a healthy lead going into the second leg, but they will be wary of the yellow submarine who have upset the odds before.

To celebrate this giant european clash FanTeam have created some exciting contests for us to sink our teeth into.

€100K gameweek 38 EPL Finale satellites will be running side by side with tonight’s regular fantasy contests.

The great thing about FanTeam as a platform is I can play daily fantasy contests, player matchups and make my sportsbook bets all in the same place.

FanTeam champions league contests are played under the very unique pursuit mode, but what is pursuit mode?

Pursuit is a unique format in which players are essentially handicapped according to how good of a performance we would expect from them. Instead of being limited by a predefined budget users can pick players by bonus points as well as a captain who will score double bonus points and a vice captain who will score 1.5 bonus points.

Bonus points are awarded at the start of a contest. Low expectation players will have a higher starting point whereas high expectation players will have a lower starting point. Pursuit allows the user to start the tournament in the lead, or choose to start behind the eight ball.

More details on pursuit mode can be found by CLICKING HERE or in the rules section inside the game lobby.

Safety Net is enabled for this contest meaning all non starting players will be replaced at the beginning of their match. Note this is only if there is a player from the same club, in the same position with equal or cheaper price.

Standard FanTeam scoring applies.

Villarreal have an excellent home record and haven’t lost at the Estadio de la Ceramica since November. The yellow submarine will need all that home field advantage tonight, as they look to become only the second club in champions league history to overturn a 2 goal deficit in a champions league semi final. The only other club to have done it is tonight’s opponents Liverpool!

Liverpool head to the Estadio de la Ceramica tonight looking to do what both Juventus and Bayern Munich couldn’t do and that’s score. The reds will be full of confidence after dispatching Newcastle by 1-0 at the weekend, a result that very much keeps their quadruple dream alive.

The Reds victory at Newcastle was their fifth on the bounce and they haven’t lost an away game in all competitions since December, so they have to be favoured here again tonight..

Liverpool – Becker Alisson, Trent Alexander Arnold, Andrew Robertson, Mohamed Salah, Sadio Mane, Luiz Diaz and Diego Jota.

Villarreal – Geronimo Rulli, Pau Torres, Raul Albiol, Arnaut Danjuma, Dani Parejo, Etienne Capoue and Samuel Chukwueze.

Liverpool are favoured tonight and that shows as all their players will start on minus points. Liverpool’s only injury concern tonight is Roberto Firmino. Liverpool will be wary of Villarreal so I doubt we see much rotation tonight and it’s worth noting that Sadio Mane could equal the record for the most strikes at this stage for an English club which is currently held by Frank Lampard.

With this in mind and the way I like to build pursuit teams this will be my favourite Liverpool lineup for tonight’s slate.

Villarreal are the underdogs tonight and their players will start on plus points. Villarreal have been hit by the injury bug at the worst possible time. Alberto Moreno and Yeremi Pino are major doubts for this tie tonight and playmaker Arnaut Danjuma was ruled out for their La Liga game at the weekend with some discomfort. Francis Coquelin and Raul Albiol will hope to give the yellow submarine a boost after coming back from knocks themselves.

With this in mind and the way I like to build pursuit teams this will be my favourite Villarreal lineup for tonight’s slate.

There’s a clear difference in quality between these 2 sides and quite frankly Liverpool should have scored more at Anfield. The reds have been exceptional on the road in the champions league and have not failed to score more than 2 goals in any of their 5 outings. With this in mind the over 1.5 Liverpool goals at odds of 1.71 looks very appealing.

A £20 bet will return £34.20 if it lands.
