A CHAMPIONS LEAGUE SHOWDOWN FOR THE AGES
A massive 2 nights of champions league football concludes tonight with Real Madrid VS Manchester City.
An astonishing first leg between these 2 will conclude tonight with the winner facing Liverpool in the showpiece final. A total of 7 goals was scored across leg one with Pep Guardiola’s side edging it 4-3. Tonight’s hosts and the record winners of this competition are no strangers to comebacks so we should be in for a great night of European action.

THE CONTEST
FanTeam champions league contests are played under the very unique pursuit mode, but what is pursuit mode?
Pursuit is a unique format in which players are essentially handicapped according to how good of a performance we would expect from them. Instead of being limited by a predefined budget users can pick players by bonus points as well as a captain who will score double bonus points and a vice captain who will score 1.5 bonus points.
Bonus points are awarded at the start of a contest. Low expectation players will have a higher starting point whereas high expectation players will have a lower starting point. Pursuit allows the user to start the tournament in the lead, or choose to start behind the eight ball.
More details on pursuit mode can be found by CLICKING HERE or in the rules section inside the game lobby.
Safety Net is enabled for this contest meaning all non starting players will be replaced at the beginning of their match. Note this is only if there is a player from the same club, in the same position with equal or cheaper price.
Standard FanTeam scoring applies.
REAL MADRID VS MANCHESTER CITY PREDICTION
Real Madrid quickly dusted themselves off from the first leg as they walloped Espanyol by 4-0 to become La Liga champions. Perhaps a reminder to the football world that there is still some life in this old dog yet.
Madrid will certainly fancy their chances tonight having already overturned a 1 goal deficit in the last 16 of this tournament against the might of PSG. Not since December 2018 have Real Madrid failed to score at home in the champions league and they will be hoping for the same again tonight.
Manchester City in contrast have Liverpool breathing down their necks in the league and having out played Real Madrid for most of the match at the Etihad will feel aggrieved that they have only got a 1 goal advantage.
Manchester City will bring a 4 game winning streak to the Bernabeu tonight, in which time they have scored 16 goals. They have only conceded 1 goal in their last 9 games on the road so will certainly fancy their chances.
A real 50/50 game that could go either way. A fascinating night certainly awaits us.
PLAYERS TO TARGET
Real Madrid – Thibaut Courtois, Eder Militao, Daniel Carvajal, Junior Vinicius, Luka Modric, Toni Kroos and Karim Benzema.
Manchester City – Moraes Ederson, Joao Cancelo, Aymeric Laporte, Riyad Mahrez, kevin De Bruyne, Bernardo Silva, Phil Foden and Gabriel Jesus.
TEAM REVEAL
REAL MADRID
Real Madrid defensive assets tonight will all start on plus points with their attacking options on minus. Carlo Ancelotti took a risk rushing David Alaba back for the first leg and the Austrian is now only fit enough for the bench in tonight’s game. Militao and Fernandez should be well rested as they both served suspensions in La Liga over the weekend. Attacking wise Benzema, Vinicius and Toni Kroos were also rested over the weekend so Real come into this game with a healthy squad to choose from. Benzema is the highlight and Real will need him tonight to continue in his rich reign of form.
With this in mind and the way I like to build pursuit teams this will be my favourite Real Madrid lineup for tonight’s slate.
MANCHESTER CITY
Much like Real Madrid City’s defensive options will all start on plus points with the attacking options starting on minus. As far as the City squad is concerned it’s well rested with Kevin De Bruyne, Bernardo Silva and Riyad Mahrez just named on the bench at the weekend. City will hope for Gabriel Jesus to continue his fine form and he makes for an intriguing option tonight.
With this in mind and the way I like to build pursuit teams this will be my favourite Manchester City lineup for tonight’s slate.
FANTEAM SPORTSBOOK BET
There’s one thing I’m expecting from this match and that’s goals! Manchester City are averaging 3.4 goals per game in the champions league this year and Real Madrid are averaging 3.1 goals per game. Combined that’s 3.25 goals per game, with this in mind my bet is an easy one and the same as the first leg over 2.5 goals at 1/2
A £20 bet will return £30 if it lands.
