UFC EXPERT JACK HUMPHREY BRINGS US HIS PICKS AND TEAM REVEAL FOR UFC VEGAS 274
IT’S TIME! The UFC returns to PPV for UFC 274 with 2 blockbuster matchups as the headline. Lightweight mens champion Charles Oliveira failed to make weight so his headline matchup with Justin Gaethje is no longer for the title. Nonetheless it still makes for an exciting matchup.
The other headline matchup sees the formidable Rose Namajunas take on Carla Ezparza for the women’s strawweight title. Rose will be hoping for revenge from her 2014 loss to Ezparza as she aims to cement her legacy.
In total there are 15 fights across UFC 274. It’s a massively stacked card that includes a ton of UFC favourites including Tony Ferguson, Michael Chandler and Cowboy Donald Cerrone. An exciting evening of knockouts awaits and with it FanTeam’s exciting MMA contest.
The UFC really is the ultimate fighting experience, where favorites can be knocked out at any moment. We have seen it time and time again with greats such as Michael Bisping, Anderson Silva and Conor McGregor all staring up at those lights and wondering what the hell just happened.
The UFC is everything it’s advertised to be – trash talking, bright lights, bright stars and violence with great technique mixed in. All making it the greatest combat sport in the world, in my opinion – and the perfect sport to play DFS in.
THE CONTEST
Why not enjoy all the spectacular moments tonight by entering a few DFS lineups and experiencing the thrills of your fighter getting a first round KO.
We have a €5 buy in and a prize pool of €1000 for this contest.
If you have played FanTeam UFC then you will be familiar with our universal 6 concept. For those of you who haven’t then it’s simple, simply pick 6 fighters within a £100M budget.
Scoring remains the same and is again very simple. 1 point for a strike, 2 for a takedown, 5 for a reversal. A fighter that wins within the first round also gets 100 points compared to a fighter winning in round 5 who gets just 30 points.
This, however, might even itself out over the fight with the fighter winning in round 5 getting a ton of strikes and takedowns, so there’s many ways to approach this.
I don’t even hate 2 fighters from the same fight if it was to go all the way, as there’s potential for points-galore!
MY FIGHTER PICKS
The highest priced fighters on tonight’s card are Charles Oliveira (19.1M), Rose Namajunas (18.5M) and Michael Chandler (18.4M)
If you are playing a single entry or multi-entering, then you will almost certainly need to have exposure to these guys. It’s extremely difficult to play all of those guys in one lineup, so you will need to find a balance.
Here a few of my Core Plays for tonight’s UFC 274 slate on FanTeam:
BRANDON ROYVAL (17.8M)
Brandon Royval takes on Matt Schnell in a flyweight dust up tonight.
Royval is one of the most exciting flyweights on the roster and returns for the second time this year. Royval likes to throw rapid fast strikes and is an extremely aggressive fighter both upright and on the mat.
Schnell will look to grapple early in this one but I think this will be his undoing. This is because Royval will look to unleash a flurry of combinations on the legs and the face as he looks to win the opening exchanges. I have to back Royval because he can win in so many ways.
With this in mind Royval via knockout is the verdict.
RANDY BROWN (15.9M)
Randy Brown takes on Khaos Williams in an exciting welterweight contest tonight.
An exciting fight between 2 welterweights who have rediscovered themselves as of late. Brown will appear for the first time this year after a successful 2021 campaign. Brown will have the range advantage and will need to call upon his veteran instincts to get this job done tonight.
Williams is a dangerous puncher and was on somewhat of a run until he ran into Michel Pereira last year where he lost by decision. Brown has all the technique and skill to get this fight to the mat and with this fight only being 3 rounds I think he can control it.
With this in mind I only see this fight going one way and that’s Brown’s way. Brown via submission or decision is the verdict.
JOE LAUZON (14.9M)
Joe Lauzon takes on the cowboy Donald Cerrone tonight in a lightweight dust up.
Lauzon offers real value in this fight as the underdog. This is in part to his aggressive on the front foot style. He does of course have his red flags like any fighter down here but his mauling last time out of Jonathan Pearce shows that he still has some of that kill or be killed mojo about him.
Cerrone has to be respected as the veteran he is but while losses to Conor McGregor and Justin Gaethje are nothing to be ashamed about, the loss last time out to Alex Morono was worrying. He has struggled to regain his composure in recent fights and seems less and less able to recover from shots.
With this in mind I can only see one result and that’s a Lauzon win. Lauzon via knockout is the verdict.

As you can see, the lineup is built around my player selections above.
