Gameweek 13 is here and it’s a midweek slate to focus on with 10 games to look at. Gameweek 12 sprung a few surprises, and showed once again how some teams are showing they mean business. There were quite a few red cards also which didn’t help some teams. 11 players needed as usual in this slate and here is a break down per game of who i think should be in those teams of yours

The full round contest runs through 19th May

The full round game has 1 contest this week with an entry fee of €5 and a prize pool of €400.

The rules are simple to follow. You will be required to pick 11 players to fill out your squad whilst staying within a budget of 108.0m. For each team you enter, you must select a captain and a vice captain. Your captain will score 2x points. However, in the event that your captain does not play, your vice captain will then score 2x points.

You can select a maximum of 3 players from the same team. It is worth noting that if you select two or more defensive players from the same team (GK and DEF), and the team keeps a clean sheet, a stacking penalty will apply.

No bench required in this contest, folks. Instead, you have the innovative safety net feature to fall back on! This means if you have a player who does not start, your player will be replaced at the beginning of the match. This is dependent on a player being available from the same team, at the same price or less. The closest price to your player value will be automatically selected.

Standard FanTeam scoring applies to this contest.

With the rules covered, let’s take a look at some of my picks from each game  shall we?

DC United Vs New York City FC – 00.30am BST (19/5/22)

New York got back to winning ways with a solid 2-0 win at home against Columbus. Valentin Castellanos ( 10.5M ) was back and grabbed himself a goal in the process and he is a great price on this slate. Talles Magno ( 9.9M ) seems to be finding form again and also grabbed himself a goal over the weekend and could be another player worth featuring this week. DC came from 2 down to get a draw away to Inter Miami. Taxiarchis Fountas ( 9.1M ) again got himself on the scoresheet which takes him to 5 in 5 since joining DC. Ola Kamara ( 9M ) came off the bench to grab the equalizer and will be hoping that gets him the start here. Games between the two usually produce goals with 17 in the last 4 meetings and New York usually getting the better when the two meet.

New York Red Bulls Vs Chicago Fire – 00.30am BST ( 19/5/22 )

The Red Bulls will be happy to come away from Philadelphia with a point after being 1 down with ten men. They face a Chicago team here who are in awful form, and will be licking their lips of getting something here to continue their good form. A win here could take the Red Bulls top of the Eastern Conference. I like the defensive side of the Red Bulls here due to Chicago being so bad. Carlos Coronel ( 9.5M ) could be a good option for goalkeeper this gameweek but is a bit steep on price. Aaron Long ( 9.1M ) is hopeful to return from injury and if he’s fit to play is a good option for your defense. He has grabbed a couple of goals this season also. Chicago isn’t expected to get much here but as always in football never say never. Shaqiri ( 5.5M ) is far too cheap for a player of his ability and could be an interesting option if you’re spending up elsewhere. These two met earlier in the season where if it was for Chicago getting 2 sent off would have taken all 3 points. Can Chicago spring a surprise?

Philadelphia Union Vs Inter Miami – 00.30am BST (19/5/22)

Philadelphia will be looking at this game and thinking they can use this to change their form. They haven’t won in their last 5 and have slipped to third in the Eastern Conference. Despite the poor form, one constant is Daniel Gazdag ( 13.4M ) 6 goals, 2 assists and the main man in this Philly team. The price is a concern but for me he is worth it. Philly haven’t been great at keeping the ball out there own net recently however Andre Blake ( 10.5M ) could be an option to have in goal. Inter Miami will be annoyed that they let a 2 goal lead slip at the weekend, but Leonardo Campana ( 6M ) did grab another goal and is still keeping Gonzalo Higuain ( 5.7M ) out of the starting 11. Last season Miami grabbed a win in Philly and will be looking to do the same again here.

Minnesota Vs LA Galaxy – 01.00am BST ( 19/5/22 )

Both these sides are in mixed form and go into this match on the back of a defeat at the weekend. Minnesota came up against a strong Seattle team last time out and despite going 1-0 up couldn’t hold on for any points. The Galaxy gave FC Dallas their first away win of the season and will need to score more than one here id expect if they are to take anything from this game. Robin Lod ( 9.4M ) was back in the starting 11 for Minnesota and grabbed himself another goal and is the main threat to the Galaxy here. Dayne St Clair ( 7.6M ) could be a cheaper option to have in goal as Galaxy aren’t known for being a high scoring team. With the Galaxy being in such mixed form, Javier Hernandez ( 9.5M ) doesn’t seem like a great option but as ever you can’t write him off. Douglas Costa ( 8.2M ) grabbed his first goal since returning from injury and played the full 90 also. He’s going to be needed if LA wants to get back to winning ways.

Houston Dynamo Vs Seattle Sounders – 01.30am BST (19/5/22 )

As expected Seattle were back to concentrating on the league and despite going a goal down came back to win 3-1 vs Minnesota at the weekend. Raul Ruidaz ( 7.9M ) and Nicolas Lodeiro ( 8.1M ) both found the back of the net and are at great prices this game week if you think Seattle continues to play a strong 11. Christian Roldan ( 7.6M ) also was on fire with a goal and an assist against Minnesota. Houston will be full of confidence going into this game after a solid 2-0 victory vs Nashville, they also played most of the game with 10 men. Darwin Quintero ( 9.5M ) grabbed the second vs Nashville and was taken off on the hour mark to rest up for this fixture. Fabrice Picault ( 9M ) is always a solid option if you fancy Houston getting something here. Houston did get the win last season when at home vs Seattle, so I’d expect this to be a close game.

Nashville SC Vs CF Montreal – 01.30am BST (19/5/22 )

This could be the game of the night. Nashville back on home soil against the inform team in the MLS and current leaders of the Eastern Conference. Nashville have only played twice at home this season and have yet to

lose. However I do expect Montreal to give them a tough game here. Hany Mukhtar ( 10M ) did not start at the weekend but did come on at half time, and Nashville need their talisman here to get a positive result. Charles Sapong ( 9.4M ) leads the line for Nashville and despite Montreal

being in great form do tend to concede, Sapong could add to his tally here. Montreal players have been priced very nicely here, as despite being the in form team in the MLS aren’t expected to get much of a result here. Djordje Mihailovic ( 6.5M ) is key to Montreal and they will need him to be on top form here to get a positive result. Nashville has yet to lose to Montreal since joining the MLS, will that still be the case after this one?

Sporting Kansas City Vs Colorado Rapids – 01.30am BST (19/5/22)

Sporting Kansas are 7 without a win, and Portland put 7 past them at the weekend. However they are a better side when playing at home. Colorado will come into this game full of confidence after a good 2-0 win against LAFC. However away from home they are still looking for their first win of the season. Johnny Russell ( 8.1M ) and Daniel Salloi ( 8.2M ) will be needed by Sporting here to try and get a victory here and look to push on. Colorado welcomed back Diego Rubio ( 9.1M ) who also bagged a goal from the penalty spot at the weekend. Tough game to call here, however the away side have not won this fixture in the last 8 meetings.

Vancouver Whitecaps Vs FC Dallas – 03.00am BST (19/5/22 )

Bottom of the Western Conference at home against the in form team in the Western Conference who currently sit second. Dallas will be full of confidence after a great win away to LA Galaxy and they will be wanting to make this two away victories on the spin. To do that they will need top scorer Jesus Ferreira ( 9.2m ) to add to his 9 goals this season. Paul Arriola ( 8.6M ) has been in good form for Dallas also and was also on the scoresheet at the weekend. Vancouver will be hoping that Dallas have an off day and look to take advantage. They did manage to get a point at the weekend at home to San Jose and got 3 goals in the process, however defensively they weren’t the best. Lucas Cavallini ( 8.3M ) could be an option if you want to get different with your line ups, but Dallas pose the best defensive record in the Western Conference so it could be a tough night for Vancouver.

Los Angeles FC Vs Austin FC – 03.30am BST ( 19/5/22 )

Another potential game of the slate contender here. Both teams have very similar records. LAFC sit top and Austin sit third in the Western Conference. LAFC have scored 23 and conceded 12 in 11 games, Austin scored 23 conceded 11 in 11 games also. Both come into this game on the back of a defeat. Not ideal for either side. LAFC however are a force at home, yet to taste defeat and have only scored less than 2 on one occasion on home soil. Away from home Austin have had a mixed set of results, but were defeated in their last away game against Real Salt Lake. These sides have met 3 times in the past with LAFC winning all 3 of them. Jose Cifuentes ( 14.1M ) has a tendency to score against Austin when the two sides have met but his price here makes me think we could get better value elsewhere. Austin will look towards Sebastian Driussi ( 7.5M ) who is their top scorer with 7 to find his form again to try and get something here.

San Jose Earthquakes Vs Portland Timbers – 03.30am BST (19/5/22)

Games that include San Jose usually bring goals, 6 at the weekend being the latest goalfest. Portland come here after putting 7 past Sporting Kansas. So it’s safe to say my focus here will be on the attacking players from both sides. Jeremy Ebobisse ( 11.4M ) has 7 goals this season and bagged a brace at the weekend, this was off the back of a 3 game drought. Cristian Espinoza ( 11.6M ) is another to consider for San Jose, if he’s not getting a goal, he tends to get an assist. Sebastian Blanco ( 8.7M ) got the start at the weekend and got himself a brace but did not see out the 90 minutes. He will be hoping he gets the nod again here especially against a team who do like to concede. Nathan Fogaca ( 7.9M ) started his first game for Portland and also got a brace. Would be difficult to not see both start again here. Portland has not lost to San Jose in the last 7 meetings between the two.

As this contest allows multi entries, I will likely be entering different line ups. Here’s an example of one of my line ups I will be entering using some of the players mentioned.

I hope this article has given you plenty of food for thought – especially for those of you that know very little about MLS, but are playing in the MLS Main Event contest.

MLS Main Event cash contests  start at 00.30am BST, so be sure to enter your lineups early to avoid missing out.
