Roma and Feyenoord will do battle tonight to decide the first-ever Europa Conference league champion. History is on the line in Tirana with Roma looking to seek their first victory in a Uefa final and Feyenoord looking to become the first team to lift all 3 of Europe’s current club trophies.

The Europa Conference League may not have the luster of the Champions League but both sides will want to end the season on a high and with Fanteam’s fantasy contests adding excitement you can enjoy it as well.

The great thing about FanTeam as a platform is I can play daily fantasy contests,  and player matchups and make my sportsbook bets all in the same place.

FanTeam Europa Conference Final contests are played under the very unique pursuit mode, but what is pursuit mode?

Pursuit is a unique format in which players are essentially handicapped according to how good of a performance we would expect from them. Instead of being limited by a predefined budget users can pick players by bonus points as well as a captain who will score double bonus points and a vice-captain who will score 1.5 bonus points.

Bonus points are awarded at the start of a contest. Low expectation players will have a higher starting point whereas high expectation players will have a lower starting point. Pursuit allows the user to start the tournament in the lead, or choose to start behind the eight ball.

More details on pursuit mode can be found by CLICKING HERE or in the rules section inside the game lobby.

Safety Net is enabled for this contest meaning all non-starting players will be replaced at the beginning of their match. Note this is only if there is a player from the same club, in the same position with an equal or cheaper price.

Standard FanTeam scoring applies.

Jose Mourinho will be hoping to win his 5th straight European Final tonight having won the Europa league in 2003 with Porto, the Champions league in 2004 with Porto, the Champions League with Inter in 2010, and the Europa league in 2017 with Manchester United.

Jose’s Roma side cruised through the last 16 stages despite getting whacked 6-1 by Norwegian Champions Bodo in the group stage. They would edge past Vitesse in the last 16 before reconvening with their group stage conquerors again in the last 8. Though they suffered defeat in the away leg again they would brush aside their group stage conquerors at the Stadio Olimpico, before setting up a mouth-watering tie against Leicester City in the semi-finals. Mourinho’s men would overcome Leicester with excellent defensive displays to win 2-1 on aggregate and book their place in the showpiece final.

Feyenoord themselves are hoping to create history tonight in completing the European set and winning 4 straight European Cup Finals. Arne Slot has given Feyenoord fans a taste of past glories in his first season at the DE Stadionclub and will be hoping to add the Europa Conference League trophy to the Rotterdam club trophy case.

Slot’s men are undefeated in this competition and the Eredivisie club has found the net 28 times in 12 games. They swept through the group stage and saw off Partizan Belgrade and Slavia Prague on route to the final 4. Feyenoord would book their place in the final after seeing off Marseille in the semi-finals despite throwing away a 2 goal lead in the home leg. They would eventually win 3-2 at home before a gutsy defensive display and see the Rotterdam club get a well-earned 0-0 draw to book their place in the showpiece 3-2 on aggregate.

Roma – Rui Patricio, Chris Smalling, Roger Ibanez, Lorenzo Pellegrini, Nicolo Zaniolo and Tammy Abraham.

Feyenoord – Ofir Marciano, Marcos Senesi, Lutsharel Geertruida, Luis Sinisterra Orkun Kokcu and Cyriel Dessers.

Roma’s goalkeeping and defensive assets will start on plus points for this contest with their midfielders and attacking options starting on minus points. Jose Mourinho’s teams are notorious for being hard to break down, so I definitely think we can target Patricio in goal and Roma defensive assets when building lineups. Lorenzo Pellegrini has been in great form since the quarter-final stage with 3 goals and an assist to his name so is an automatic lock for me. Then there’s Tammy Abraham who has scored over 20 goals in Serie A this year and is the second-leading goal scorer in this competition. Like Pellegrini, Abraham will make up most of my builds.

With this in mind and the way, I like to build pursuit teams this is my favorite Roma lineup tonight.

Feyenoord’s goalkeeping and defensive assets will start on plus points for this contest with their midfielders and attacking options starting on minus points. Feyenoord is very hard to trust defensively in this competition having kept just 2 clean sheets. Nonetheless, Marciano’s goal should be bombarded with shots in this game so he does present fantasy value with shot saves. Midfielder Luis Sinisterra is a juicy option with 3 goals in his last 4 games in this competition. Cyriel Dessers up top is my favorite option and is the current top goal scorer in this competition so he is a lock for me tonight.

With this in mind and the way, I like to build pursuit teams this is my favorite Feyenoord lineup tonight.

I’m not expecting many goals from this game but I am expecting a stubborn defensive masterclass from Roma and Jose Mourinho. Feyenoord has excelled in this competition but tonight the greater experience and mastery of game management will get the job done.

With this in mind, Roma to win outright is my favorite bet at 17/13.

A £20 bet would return £46.20 should it land.
