Are you searching for that extra spark of excitement in the Fantasy Sports arena? Well, FanTeam has you covered and is proud to introduce to you our new fantasy and sports betting game – Star Pick.
Star Pick is a game where its beauty and excitement is held in its simplicity. Outsmart your opponents and turn a small entry fee into big winnings.
How does the Star Pick game work?
The Star Pick game will work across the majority of sporting events we cover on FanTeam, so expect to see Star Pick contests running frequently in the Lobby.
We will create a Star Pick contest for a chosen set of fixtures/events – just like we do with our fantasy sports contests – such as the Weekly Monster.
However, instead of picking a fantasy team of multiple players to enter the contest, you need only pick ONE player that YOU think will score the highest amount of points for that contest.
If your chosen player gets the highest fantasy score in the Star Pick contest, you will win an equal portion of the prize pool, along with all other users who picked the same player. It’s that simple!
The key to this game is outthinking your friends and opponents. The lower owned (least picked) a player is, the more you stand to win if they go on to score the most points in the Star Pick contest.
So, do you bet on the big-name player (Mo Salah, for example) and have a bigger chance of a win, or, do you go against the grain with a more outside pick (Jordan Henderson, for example) and gamble for a big payday.
Decisions, decisions…
What scoring system will you use?
Players will score and accrue points as they would in the standard format of fantasy contests on FanTeam.
As the Star Pick game will be available across the multiple sporting events we offer on FanTeam, please be sure to familiarize yourself with the scoring for the contest type you are entering.
A full breakdown of the scoring rules can be found by clicking on the ‘Scoring System’ button inside the Star Pick contest itself.
Will the Star Pick contests have a budget?
There is no budget in Star Pick. You can pick any player from the slate, without restriction.
Players will still be ordered from the highest to the lowest price to show you who is expected to score the most expected fantasy points, just like in our fantasy contests – but you can pick any player you like.
Can I enter a Star Pick contest more than once?
Yes. Some Star Pick contests will have a maximum entries rule, limiting a user to a fixed amount of picks they can enter.
Also, a user can bet on the same player multiple times. For example, if the max entries is 5 per user, you can bet Salah to be the highest-scoring player, 5 times – giving you 5 shares of the prize pool, should he be the highest scoring player of the Star Pick contest.
What if multiple players tie for 1st place?
If two or more selected players end the contest with exactly the same points then they will split the prize.
Also, note that there will always be a winner in a Star Pick contest. If no one picks the highest point scorer for a contest the prize pool will go to those who have picked a player with the highest score from those selected by users.
How do we calculate the prizes?
The total prize pool will be distributed to the entry or entries that correctly pick the player with the highest score in the Star Pick contest.
For example: 1000 x €2 entries = €2000 prize pool
– 1 user picks the highest points scorer = wins €2000
– 5 users pick the highest points scorer = win €400 each
– 10 users pick the highest points scorer = win €200 each
*rake will be taken from the prize pool
Other than that, all general fantasy rules for each respective sport will apply to star pick – see our support pages for more information on each respective sport.
