€50,000 Champions League GROUP STAGE Fantasy Football Tournament

FanTeam’s prestigious UEFA Champions League Group Stage fantasy Tournament is now, open!

Whether you’ve had a rough start to your fantasy football season games and would like a clean slate, or, you’re someone that enjoys Champions League football and would like to convert your knowledge into cash – Fanteam’s €50,000 UEFA Champions League Group Stage fantasy football tournament offers managers an exciting, high-stakes fantasy game with huge potential rewards.

Managers in our UCL Group Stage game have the chance to choose a star-studded line-up from Europe’s most elite talent. If you’ve ever wanted to own the likes of Erling Haaland, Kylian Mbappé and Karim Benzema in your fantasy side – now’s your chance!

The contest will be played over 6 Gameweek’s – starting on the 6th of September 2022 ending with the final Group Stage matches on the 2nd of November 2022.

Our prize pool for this season’s game is set to a minimum of €50,000, but can grow above and beyond that, as it’s a progressive prize pool – this means, once the minimum guarantee has been met, it will continue to rise with each new entry.

Furthermore, our player prices have been diligently set to ensure more players are viable for team selection. This should all lead to our most exciting UEFA Champions League flagship tournaments.

GAME RULES

To play in Fanteam’s €50,000 UEFA Champions League Group Stage fantasy contest, you will need to create an 11-man team, using a budget of 88M.

A full breakdown of our €50,000 UEFA Champions League Group Stage Game Rules are provided below in both text and an info-graphic.

If you have any questions regarding our Game Rules, please reach out and we’ll be happy to answer any questions you might have.

As you can also see from the Game Rules infographic above, there will be no price changes or wildcards during this tournament.

Entry to this contest is fixed at €25/£21.25 and a maximum of 10 teams can be entered per Fanteam customer.

You can make unlimited changes to your Gameweek 1 teams up until the first match kicks off on September 6th at 17:45BST/18:45CET. From Gameweek 2 (Group Stage Matchday 2) onwards, however, each Gameweek deadline will be 90 minutes before the first match kicks off.

There are two free transfers to use each Gameweek and a maximum of 4 transfers total can be saved – this means you can never have more than 4 free transfers to use at any point. Additional transfers cost 4-points each.

A maximum of 3 players players from a Champions League side can be owned in your fantasy team.

As you’re only required to pick a team of 11 players, there are no substitutes or benches. However, FanTeam’s ‘Safety Net‘ feature is active, which means if a player you own doesn’t start, they’ll be replaced by the next priced player from the same team and position of the non-starting player.

A full, detailed explanation of how the Safety Net feature works can be found further down in this article.

SCORING RULES

Like with the Game Rules above, the scoring on Fanteam has slight differences to other fantasy football games you might have played on other platforms, but the image below gives a clear guide to our 2022 UEFA Champions League Group Stage fantasy football game scoring system.

Please note, if you participated in our 2022/23 Premier League season games or Weekly Monster contests, the Scoring Rules are identical to those contests.

Whilst all of the Scoring Rules have been listed above in the info-graphic, there are a few scoring attributes and scoring rules we want to draw your attention to:

Full Match Bonus: If an attacking player (Forward or Midfielder) stays on the pitch for the entire game (90 mins & including injury time) they will pick up an additional point. This means players that don’t get substituted are worth consideration, and that could potentially influence your captaincy decision too.

Goalkeeper Save Points: Goalkeepers will earn 0.5 points for every save they make. Therefore, a goalkeeper on a team that allows the opposition a lot of low quality shots, can really rack up the points – even if they don’t keep a clean-sheet.

Impact Points: If the team wins the period a player is on the pitch, the player will be awarded 0.3 points. However, if they lose the period (example: subbed off whilst losing 1-0) they’re on the pitch, they will be deducted 0.3 points.

Shots on Target: Midfielders and Strikers will be awarded 0.4 points for each Shot on Target, whilst Defenders will earn 0.6. If your Goalkeeper somehow manages a Shot on Target then he will get 1 point. This scoring rule certainly gives fantasy bosses something to think about when selecting their attacking assets.

What counts as a shot on target?

  • A shot on target is a shot that’s going in the goal, but is stopped by the last line of defence. This could be a goalkeeper, an opposing player ‘on the line’, or even your own teammate if they’re goal hanging!
  • Points for a shot on target are not awarded when a goal is scored from the shot, either if the player is the scorer or is awarded the assist.

HOW SAFETY NET WORKS

As you’re only required to pick a team of 11 players, there are no subs or benches. However, Fanteam’s ‘Safety Net‘ feature is active – “but what is a Safety Net?” we hear you shout…

Well, the ‘Safety Net‘ is when an automatic substitution is made for a player in your 11-man team that hasn’t been named in the starting lineup. If a player in your team isn’t in the starting 11 for their club at kick-off, they will automatically be substituted for the next priced player from the same position and club, at kick-off.

Example: if you own Kevin De Bruyne (11M) and he’s starting the game on the bench, or is not in the squad, he will be replaced at kick-off by the next priced midfielder from Man City – which is Phil Foden (11M). If you already own Foden, then the next priced Man City midfielder will be selected – Mahrez 9.5m, and so on until a valid replacement is found.

Please note, using the example above, if De Bruyne comes on in the 75th minute, you still keep Foden and his points as you started the match with him for the Gameweek. The automatic substitution is made at kick-off and you’ll keep that player for the full game, so will score nothing from De Bruyne for that match.

Our Safety Net feature is designed to make it much more likely you have 11 starting players and don’t get burnt with your player coming on in the 89-minute for a 1-point appearance. Of course, your chosen player could come on later in the game and score substantial points, but that’s the beauty of Safety Net – as it can and will work both ways, but is a feature designed to protect your teams each Gameweek.

€50,000 PRIZE POOL INFO

Our 2022 UEFA Champions League Group Stage tournament has progressive prize pools this time around. This means that the guaranteed €50,000 prize pool will be paid out, even if the contest doesn’t fill!

However, should the prize pool exceed the minimum entries required to hit the €50,000 minimum guarantee, then the prize pool will continue to grow above and beyond €50K, with no cap. We are confident this will happen!

The amount of players who will win a cash prize is this contest is fixed at 17% of total entrants. For example, if there are 5,000 entrants then the top 850 will win a cash prize.

The distribution of the prizes will change automatically according to the number of total entries, ranging from around 1.5x the entry fee for the lowest places to a large prize for the first place winner.

In this specific UEFA Champions League Group Stage tournament, the outright winner will win a guaranteed 1st place prize of 10% of the total prizepool. For example, if the total prizepool at the end of the registration period is €100,000, then the first place finisher will receive €10,000, guaranteed.

The MINIMUM 1st place prize for this contest is €5,000!

All other paid spots will be calculated automatically as more users enter, so be sure to keep an eye on the ‘Prizes’ tab inside the contest itself for up to date numbers.
