The Masters Main Event – How to Play

The Masters

It’s time for the biggest golf tournament of the year, The Masters.

This is golf’s Superbowl, Wimbledon, or Wembley Final with every player dreaming of ending the Sunday by putting on the famous Green Jacket.

Golf has grown to be one of the biggest and most popular fantasy sports, largely because of how well it lends itself to the fantasy format.

Combining the in-depth coverage, availability of stats, beautiful scenery & having multiple players to root for (or root against) makes for an incredibly fun experience and greatly enhances the pleasure of watching the game.

Tell me about the Main Event format.

Picking your team is about as simple as it gets. In the Main Event contests, you will pick 6 players from the player pool with a budget of 100M.

Our fantasy golf game differentiates itself most from others with our Captain and Underdog features.

– You’ll pick one of your 6 players to be your team captain, who’ll have his points multiplied by 1.25.

– Your Underdog will automatically be set as your lowest-priced player, and they will also receive a 1.25-point multiplier.

This innovative system means your ‘last man in’ is just as important as your top player, and adds a layer of strategy when picking teams not seen anywhere else.

How do my players score points?

With our scoring system, we had two main objectives:

  • Reward good play, punish bad play
  • Ensure what you cheer for is rewarded

If you have played fantasy golf elsewhere you will be familiar with a lot of our point metrics. We believe we have created a really fun and balanced points format.

Essentially though, the more birdies your player makes and the higher they place, the more points they will earn.

Any strategy tips?

With our carefully calculated pricing system, you will never steer too far wrong by choosing six players who use up the budget. However, in fantasy golf, there is some simple strategy based on the balance of your player pool.

With nearly all events having a cut at the midway stage you ideally want to have as many of your players through to the weekend as possible to finish high up the leaderboard.

One option is to pick a balanced playing pool of middle-priced golfers that are considered  “safe options” and increase your chances of taking through all six players into the weekend.

A second option is to go with the real big guns at the top of the pricing with more chance of taking those valuable placement points and hope your cheap guys can scrape it through the cut.

You are now ready to play

You now have all the information needed to be ready to play. Fantasy golf is one of the easiest games to jump into and get started on.

Once you get the fantasy golf bug there is a tonne of stats and course history information to dig into but we’ll leave that for another article…
